In March 2018, county officials proposed a 22-story, 300-foot hotel tower with 468 rooms, aiming to expand the total hotel capacity to 1,000 rooms at an estimated cost of $165 million. By August, revised plans were released featuring a redesigned 26-story tower. Groundbreaking took place in August 2019, with architecture by Cooper Carry. The tower became the tallest building constructed in Columbus in over 15 years. The final cost rose to $264.5 million—up from the $220 million projected at the start of construction—due to additions such as a rooftop bar and restaurant, expanded meeting and ballroom space, and adjustments for evolving market conditions.
